Every December, I look forward to making Christmas cookies. I know it’s cliche, but it’s true. My absolute favorite Christmas treat to make is M&M Christmas cookies. It’s something about the red and green color combination, the taste of rich milk chocolate, and chocolate cookie dough that gets me in the Christmas spirit of baking. In today’s recipe, you’re going to learn how to make these festive cookies.

M&M Christmas cookies ingredients:
- 1 box of chocolate cake mix (any 15.25 oz brand will do)
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of M&M’S holiday milk chocolate Christmas candy. Add additional 1/2 cup of M&Ms on top of each cookie dough.
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Make sure your baking sheet is lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Mix the cake mix, egg, and oil until well blended, about 3 minutes on medium speed in an electric mixer.
- Fold in 1 cup of Christmas M&Ms with a rubber spatula
- Add the additional 1/2 cup of Christmas M&Ms on top of the cookies.
- Use a round tablespoon (use it 2x for a bigger cookie) or cookie scoop to place cookie dough onto a prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven.
- Allow the sheet of cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Baking Tips
- Do not overbake! The cookies should be slightly golden brown when you take them out, but still look moist inside.
- Do not underbake! The cookies will spread too much and they may fall apart. Instead of enjoying a nice cookie, you’ll have clumps of melted chocolate in your hands, which isn’t that fun to eat.
- Cool your cookies on a cooling rack instead of directly on the stovetop so they don’t get soggy from condensation.
How to store your M&M Christmas cookies
To store baked cookies, you need to keep them in an airtight container. Store at room temperature, but keep away from moisture. If you have a lot of cookies going on and don’t have time to bake them all at once, store the remaining dough in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or in the freezer for 2 months.
